Wireless Temperature Logging Added to the Elcomponent Package…

We’ve always prided ourselves on providing more than just energy readings to those customers that require it.? Our portable loggers and fixed sub-metering systems can both be specified to provide more esoteric values for such as total harmonic distortion (THD) when measuring electricity, and of course our multi-utility software handles any combination of utility, variable and unit you can imagine, and the ones you can’t.? It may not be exciting, but if you’ve got a meter that measure the rate at which paint dries or grass grows, we can handle it!? And – we’ve always measured temperature directly into our MeterRing MM sub-metering systems?, usually as a way of providing accurate and totally local degree day information,??but also monitoring space and process temperatures in commercial and industrial applications.

RNLI Renewables Project – Live Data Screens to Showcase Performance

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is right at the heart of our island nation, and is rightly?recognised as an emergency service that ranks alongside the police, fire and ambulance services.? The difference is that the RNLI is a charity, and the ?385000 a day it costs to run is all donated by the British public.? The institute doesn’t cut corners?to save money?- that’s a bad idea in their sphere of operation – but it does take efficiency seriously.? That’s can be readily appreciated in their energy and carbon management policies which have resulted in an ongoing?major investment in renewables.

Save ?99 on SPC Pro Kit!

There’s never been a better time to buy an SPC Pro kit!? For a limited period we’re giving away a 4Ah external battery pack worth??99 with every SPC Pro kit.? The battery pack features a lightweight lithium ion battery which allows the SPC to be used for much longer ‘no voltage’ surveys.? As you would expect from the UKs’ favourite 3 phase energy logger, the SPC has a pretty good internal battery – good for more than two weeks – and in most cases the unit is plugged in to the mains so battery life is a moot point.? However, there are a lot of situations where a voltage connection or mains socket simply isn’t available and this is where the internal battery is essential.? Add an extra battery pack and tinhs get even better.? The SPC/4Ah battery combo provides near enough six weeks life, so it’s potentially a very useful addition to the standard kit.? If it’s free, which it is at the moment, it’s a no-brainer!

EEV 2013

Looking Forward to ‘The Energy Event’

We’re exhibiting at ‘The Energy Event 13′?at the NEC on September 10th and 11th, and as it’s always a great exhibition we’re looking forward to it.? We’ll be showcasing the latest verson of our ground-breaking ‘MeterRing RT’ live data screen package, plus all our other aM&T packages.? We remain one of the few turnkey providers of automatic metering systems in the UK, offering a service that includes design, installation and training.? Our hardware and software is mostly designed in-house too, we don’t bolt any old product together and call it a system!? Come and see us on stand G07 and find out more, and if you have the time on Wednesday, our MD Bill Gysin?is one of the presenters at the ESTA Energy Seminars – you can catch him at about 10.30 talking about how live data screens allow you to get more out of your meters, and the best out of your staff.

More Elcomponent Meters at Strathclyde University

Following hot on the heels (literally, considering last weeks weather) of the initial phase of automatic sub-metering at Strathclyde Uni, we are delighted to be tasked with adding the Halls of Residence to the system.? Phase I has been delivered in record time thanks to heroic levels of overtime and hard work from the client’s Estates Dept and our own project team, with final commissioning being completed this week.?

SPC Data Logger Now Even More Attractive!

In response to customer demand you can now use our SPC Pro 3 phase data logger upside down, providing you have a?(ferrous) metal surface to stick it to!? We’ve learned that a simple upgrade like magnetic feet can make a big difference to keeping the logger out of harm’s way in many circumstances.? As the SPC Pro uses a genuine ‘Peli’ case it’s always been easy to lock the instrument down using a bicycle type cable lock through the security lug, but if the unit can be ‘stuck’ to a handy metal surface this can make it a lot easier to hide away or simply keep it off the floor!?

Battery Packs for the SPC Pro Data Logger are Here!

As promised, we now have the new upgraded SPC Pro in stock, along with the new external battery packs.? This upgrade dramatically increases the operating flexibility of the SPC Pro 3 phase data logger when used without a power supply/voltage source.? If you need to log an electrical load where there is no mains power socket readily available (or any safe way of using croc clips)?the SPC Pro has a battery life of up to three weeks?which is pretty good, but sometimes not good enough.? The external battery packs solve that problem as they offer additional power for surveys?of up to 12 long weeks.

WiFi Interface added to Elcomponent Sub-Metering Package

GWWe’ve just finished testing a new wifi interface fo our MODBUS/TCP network gateway – and it passed with flying colours.? That means that our sub-metering systems are now fully wifi integrated and although we’ve always had a wireless option available via our AMR optimised VHF radio system, we can now interface with existing wifi networks at client sites.? Many of our larger customers rely heavily on wifi to provide total site coverage for internet connectivity, and that means a signal is often available where an RJ45 socket (network socket to you an me) is not.?

Wireless Temperature Measurement Added to MeterRing MM

We’ve always offered integrated temperature measurement as part of our sub-metering packages, and this has been a key feature of many?manufacturing site?systems we’ve installed over the years – particularly in the food industry.? It’s also proved invaluable for clients who use degree day calculations as part of their energy management strategy because as well as providing half-hour temperature profiles our MeterRing MM software automatically creates degree day info from local temperature sensors. This means the data are more accurate, and equally importantly, free!

However, until recently we haven’t had a wireless solution for temp measurement…
