Why is aM&T important?

Energy prices are continuing to rise and the Government is developing new policies and amending existing ones. So getting a firm grip on energy consumption through effective measurement and management is is vitally important. Carbon Trust studies, introducing an aM&T system, have identified over 12% energy waste that can be corrected with no and existing low cost measures. ESTA members experience is that many sites can save much more than this and almost every site introducing aM&T identifies some apparently obvious misuse of plant that had previously gone undetected.

However, aM&T is not just a one off correction - it is a continuous process combating the deterioration in plant efficiency, operational and maintenance procedures correcting a characteristic that we call Performance Drift.

aM&T is at the heart of energy management and is essential for successful implementation of an organised and structured energy management regime such as BS EN 16001.

All those with a responsibility for energy use, sustainability and carbon emissions.
