automatic Monitoring and Targeting

aM&T is a management process that delivers energy and financial management information to the point(s) of use - so that energy managers can identify and reduce energy waste and cost. Identified cost saving are over 12% [ref: Carbon Trust Advanced Metering Trial] and on individual sites can be much higher.

The 'a' for automatic is a key ingredient in allowing measurement, data collection and analysis to present those managing energy with accurate and timely data and analysis at their PC - allowing managers to take action rather than spend their day collecting data. Smart meters are an integral part of aM&T.

aM&T is also important for financial management given the high number of estimated bills and the resultant uncertainty of financial provisions. Finance is also at the heart of managing the new Carbon Reduction Commitment to minimise the exposure to carbon costs, cash flow and to maximise the recycling payments.

aM&T is referenced in the Building Regulations Part L giving carbon credits for using aM&T, in the SBEM model used to create Energy Performance Certificates, can be sued to automatically produce the Display Energy Certificates required in the public sector, in the proposal for Carbon Reduction Commitment CRC and is a technology on the Carbon Trust Energy Technology List giving 100% enhanced capital allowances.

'Orange' M2M Interface for GSM meters
For customers who need to meter electricity at a number of separate sites the Orange M2M service combined with the new MT423 GSM meter is ideal.
This low cost 3ph kWh meter incorporates a GSM modem which automatically sends half-hour meter readings via text message to a secure server for subsequent download to the MeterRing database on the customers pc. It's a low cost service making it suitable for any size of system and it's extremely simple to set up. Contract our sales office for more details.

Profile Alarms
In response to customer feedback we've now added 'Profile Alarms' to MeterRing Mm Pro-x. Designed primarily for locations where the consumption profiles follow repeatable daily or weekly patterns, this feature provides automatic warnings of any unexpected demand, and also guards against the upward drift of consumption against established benchmarks - highly effective in maintaining both awareness of performance.

In fact profile alarms have become something of an M&T standard, but they work a great deal better on an aM&T system if only because the alarm is generated in realtime and can be acted upon immediately, but our version is better still. It's easy to set up an 'ideal' profile using historic data, imported data, or from scratch. MeterRing MM provides full control of all aspects of the desired alarm, so it can be set up in minutes and modified at any time.

Status Alarms
MeterRing MM is different from most sub-metering systems, in that it can monitor status as well as gather consumption data.

This capability has now been combined with the on-board alarms package, enabling the program to provide realtime warnings of any unexpected status condition. Status monitoring can also be combined with MeterRing's integral calculation channels which provides additional flexibility.

Advanced Calculation Channels
MeterRing MM is much more than automatic meter reading (AMR) and automatic Monitoring & Targeting (aM&T). It also includes an advanced on-board calculation capability so that collected data can be incorporated into meaningful information such as 'cost per widget' and 'output per shift' etc. the latest version now provides additional operands such as 'square' 'square root' and reciprocals, as well as allowing data to be filtered by time, value and status. It sounds a bit of a mouthful, but what it really means is that you can get the detail you need right on the MeterRing desktop without resorting to cumbersome exports to spreadsheets.
