Compatible with our MOD-R 15 channel receiver these low cost, high reliability battery powered transmitters are ideal for remote data acquisition from any pulse output device.

Above ground type

The RT COM-P requires no power supply so is easily installed even in the most remote locations. The integral battery provides a working life of up to 10 years, and for additional peace of mind the battery condition is continuously reported by the unit. Available in standard and ATEX approved form (for connection to gas meters and for use in hazardous areas) and with a range of up to 3km the RTCOM-P is the default choice for radio linking pulse output meters of all types.

Below ground type

The unique pit transmitter solves the problem of remotely reading water meters and other pit meters. It uses the same powerful transmitter as the standard RT COM-P, but is fitted with a powerful magnet to allow it to be attached to the underside of a manhole cover. The unit utilises the manhole cover itself as an aerial, providing vastly superior performance when compared to any device that has to transmit through the cover. It sounds like a brilliant solution, and it is!

Extended coverage for both can types via repeater units can be provided where longer distances or difficult conditions demand.

All Elcomponent transmitters utilise the OFCOM licenced 153 MHz VHF band for improved performance and freedom from external interference.

MOD-R Receiver

MOD-R Receiver

The MOD-R is a 15 channel VHF radio receiver operating on the OFCOM licensed 153 MHz frequency band. Linking to up to 15 RT COM P pulse data transmitters it provides wireless communication over distances of over 1 kilometre. The MOD-R connects directly to an RS485 MODBUS network or TCP-IP LAN and can be used as an extension of a wired system or as part of a fully wireless AMR package.

MOD-Rs are supplied with an SMA connected 'stubby' aerial but may also be used with a range of externally mounted end-fed dipole or Yagi style antennae for a dramatically increased range. The use of a licenced frequency does not incur any charges for the user, but combined with a completely secure transmission algorithm it ensures reliable and safe communication at all times.

Elcomponent’s Meter Network Controller (MNC) is designed to provide maximum flexibility and resilience for sub-metering systems.

Based on the powerful TS 7800 SBC (single board computer) running Linux 2.6 it handles both MODBUS and Ethernet Comms for up to 75 meters or data loggers.

Fully compatible with all Elcomponent metersdata loggers, radio receivers and Ethernet gateways, it is also easily programmed to interface with any third party MODBUS or TCP-IP device. This allows it to be readily integrated into both existing and new AMR sub-metering systems to provide a local meter reading and data storage capability, as well as additional resilience on server-based networks.

A highly intuitive software utility makes initial setup quick and easy – even on large systems – and the built-in web server provides a user-friendly browser interface for maintenance and verification. The MNC even features an integral GSM modem for SMS alarm signaling if the standard network comms are lost or compromised, and the standard browser interface is not available.
